How To Install Seam Felt For Paper Machine

• Open the seam felt package

1.Take seam felt into press section position(confirm seam felt Blue arrow direction same as PM running drection)

2. Pull zipper down

3.Use one small steel pipe (clean) or similar shaft to go through inner place of seam felt roll

4.Cut the existing felt on PM

5.Cut some felt strips from other old felt or prepare some ropes 

6.Use cut felt strips or rope to connect existing felt on PM with seam felt(small pieces)

7.Pull the existing felt on PM to let the seam felt installed on paper machine. 

8.Take away the existing old felt.

• Put on seam line zipper, form some angle between two pieces felt like picture. Good for steel wire through all rings.

Felt tension should be suitable for just put on the zipper,if tension too big,seam line ring can't be successful to connect one by one. If the felt too loose, felt will move so that it is difficult for steel wire to get through rings.

Steel wire going through the rings, all rings should be aligned one by one in turn. And connect all rings by steel line.

Take steel wire out from seam felt and let Nylon line connection with the end part of steel wire pass the rings when it is very hard to further forward(proceed in rings) after through a long distance in rings. Then at that position, restart to use steel wire to go through the remaining rings until Nylon line through all rings. (2 rings together can be acceptable. 3 rings is seriously prohibited. Avoid crack.

Regardless of right hand machine,left hand machine or top felt, bottom felt, you’d better start to align rings from side of zipper beginning end.

When faced with very hard to through in a certain ring, use needle to assit and make it pass successfully.

• When the steel wire through all rings and come out from seam felt other side, let Nylon line pass through all rings. Then make remaining Nylon line both at front side and back side through back into nearby position of felt (5-8cm) guided by needle which functions to fix the Nylon line.

Stick Nylon line onto felt by melt adhesive.

Make treatment like the picture: use similar sewing thread to sew the edge of front side and back side. Increase this position strength.

Attention:

Sew more if necessary, the shorter of thread and bigger density of thread, the better it will be

The sew thread is very easy to wear out when PM running, so that you need observe it, check it. And resew it again for keeping enough strength at the position when PM shutdown.

• Take off the zipper. Pull consistengly the white sewing thread for zipper from one side.Then it will be off automatically.
