The end of life of most dryer fabrics is not due to screen wear (dryer fabrics, unlike forming fabrics and felts, are almost entirely rolling friction), but rather to screen hydrolysis caused by dirty or corroded dryer fabrics. To reduce the risk of hydrolysis, anti-hydrolysis agents are often added to the dryer fabric yarn to reduce this tendency.
