What is the specialness of paper making needled felt?

The new process of needled press felt is to pierce a thick layer of woolen net on one or both sides of a very loose but firm base cloth. The base fabric is generally 30% to 50%, and the wool layer is generally 50% to 70%, followed by washing and shrinking, drying and shaping, and firing processes.

What is the specialness of this kind felt?

1.This new technology basically overcomes the contradiction of water filtration and flatness that exists in woven felts. Needle felt both sides have a thick layer of fleece, and paper contact with the side of the hair layer thicker, so as to eliminate felt pattern on the paper surface,and improve the quality of paper.

2. Since the base layer of needle felts is loose and the fibers of the felts are perpendicular to the base fabric, when the felts pass through the press rolls or vacuum rolls, the dewatering in the vertical direction is facilitated. 

At the same time, since most of the fibers are perpendicular to the base fabric, the resistance to water flow is reduced, so the needled felts have good water filtration performance, which can reduce paper diseases and improve product quality, especially for paper machines with grooved presses or vacuum presses, the water filtration performance is more significant and the felts have a much longer life.

3. The square meter weight of needled wet felt is slightly larger than that of woven felt, and the wool layer is thicker, so the surface is flat and straight, not easy to fold and bow, easy to joint, and easy to operate. Needled felt can generally extend the service life by 50% to 400% compared with woven felts.
