The calender roll is located at the end of the papermaking process and is used to finish the paper with high temperature and high pressure. The material of the calender roll is particularly important for the calendering effect (in addition, the surface requirements of the calender roll are strict, the cone is not more than 0.005mm, the ellipticity is not more than 0.01mm, the tensile and compressive strength is large, the resistance to friction and scratching is high, the expansion coefficient is small, and the contact surface between the rolls needs to be tight and there must be no small gaps)
After preliminary treatments such as drying or coating, the paper passes through the gap between the calender rolls in turn. During the gradual heating and pressurization, the high temperature will soften the paper fibers, and the pressure will force the fibers to densify, thereby further improving the quality of the paper.
(1) Improve the smoothness of the paper surface: eliminate the fiber gap through the pressure between the rolls and reduce the roughness of the paper.
(2) Effectively control the thickness uniformity: adjust the tightness and thickness consistency of the paper.
(3) Improve the glossiness: high temperature partially melts the fibers on the surface of the paper and improves the smoothness.
(4) Improve physical properties: Improve the bursting resistance and tensile strength of paper
