The 8 shed double forming fabric consists of one set of longitudinal fibre healds and two sets of transverse fibre healds, which allows fine fibres to be retained in the top layer, while coarser fibres are woven in the bottom layer, which contributes to better sheet formation characteristics (no traces, saving handling time). This double-layer design results in more dimensional stability than single-layer forming fabric designs.

16 shed double-layer forming fabrics create a new concept for increasing the life of the fabric without compromising the quality of the paper. The increased life of the material at the base of the web usually results in an increase in the life of the overall web. Typically, 16 shed forming fabrics are used in the production of writing papers and coarse vellums on paper machines. Duplex meshes are available from 60/cm to 32/cm.
